Humidity

It's been getting slightly more humid here as the summer progresses. Last night we had a huge storm and this morning, the humidity hit me like a pile of bricks! My sister-in-law Amelia was raised in sunny California; after marrying my brother Justin, she followed him to medical school in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. The transition to a Canadian climate (especially winter) has been "uncomfortable" for her...to say the least. We try to be sympathetic; however, I like Alberta and strangely enough, don't really mind the cold. This morning, I felt like I could truly empathize, as I (unsuccessfully) wrestled to stay cheerful whilst being uncomfortably stuck to everything that touched my body. The point is not that I like cooler temperatures and have a low heat/humidity tolerance; it is that I prefer a climate akin to the one I grew up with. Amelia feels the same way...and she likes the California heat and humidity. So, I tip my hat to her and to anyone who, for love, endures a climate that may not be their preference. After all of this, I have to admit that our humid days are nothing compared to other states...and that they are not enough to (permanently) tarnish my love for our new home. I'd also like to thank my sweet husband, who followed me around all morning with a fan because he wanted me to be more comfortable.

Yeah, too much humidity stinks too! I have to say one thing, I complain no more than any other Edmontonian and even California is too hot for me! Thank goodness for AC and pools. Winter stinks mostly because it is so long and too cold to even play in it. You have to stay inside all of the time. Yuck. But...2 sayings can get me through anything...LOVE conquers all...Bloom where you're planted.
