A friend in my department was kind enough to let us stay in her cabin in Door County this past weekend. We stopped on our way up there to buy the world’s greatest cheese curds, then enjoyed a candle light dinner (of a casserole we brought up with us), watched a movie, slept in, and went hiking in the nearby state park.
We had planned on snowshoeing, but the snow had either melted (in some places) or turned to ice (in most places), so we ended up simply walking the trails (very carefully) instead. We had a great time and hope to visit again when the weather’s warmer.

A beautiful sunset over the really frozen Lake Michigan. See...things can be beautiful even when it's REALLY COLD! :)

I dug out my puffiest, warmest winter coat for the trip and was delighted that it still fit me at 8 months pregnant. This probably says something about how large I wear my clothes when I'm not expecting...

In front of the cabin where we stayed...it was so nice, in a cool, rustic sort of way :) Real, unfinished timbers, stone, etc.

Posing at the lake on our frozen hike. It took several hours for my cheeks and chin to turn back to a normal color after this.

Brian out on the ice. We're not sure how thick it was, but we saw ice-fishermen a ways out. Their half-ton truck was parked out on the ice as well, so we felt safe venturing a few feet from shore :)

It was about time! Glad you had a fun time on your trip. That is sad about the snow shoeing. Hopefully you ended up finding some snow shoes to buy instead of renting so you can get your moneys worth out of them later!
Fun! I didn't know Lake Michigan froze like that!
I'm glad you finally updated your blog. It looks like you had a great time on your little get-away.
Fun! I love your pink cheeks in that picture. And that lake one is amazing!!! The word verification below is mitin. How appropriate. :) Long live winter!
